Eco-Industrial Parks Programme II - Ukraine Country Level intervention

A training on Strengthening the Competitiveness of Industrial Parks through Eco-Industrial Park Concept Planning was held in Vinnytsia

On 24 February, a training workshop was held in Vinnytsia aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of industrial parks through the development of the eco-industrial park (EIP) concept within the framework of the project “Eco-Industrial Parks Programme II – National-Level Implementation in Ukraine” (GEIPP-II Ukraine). The project is implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and financed by the Government of Switzerland through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

The event brought together 30 participants, including representatives of 12 industrial parks from different regions of Ukraine.

During the training, participants were introduced to the key principles and benefits of the EIP model and focused on the practical aspects of developing and improving spatial planning in industrial parks, taking into account international approaches and best practices tested within the implementation of the EIP model.

Using their own parks as case studies, participants analyzed existing planning and organizational solutions, identified current challenges, and explored potential growth opportunities. Further work in these areas will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of industrial parks, increasing their environmental, social, and economic performance – both for businesses and for the respective local communities.

The training also provided a valuable opportunity for professional exchange of experience in industrial park development in Ukraine and laid the foundation for building a community of experts who share a strategic vision of the EIP model as a tool for creating systematic and sustainable industrial infrastructure to support the national economy.
